I use the Softbox III as well and love it. I travel all the time and wanted something to help diffuse my flash with people pictures. I racked my brain trying to find what I was able to carry while walking on the streets and what would work.

I'm glad I went with the Softbox III because it folds up into a 1/4" flat 6x8 square which fits perfectly into my LowePro Slingshot 200 camera case. I can walk up to a stranger on the street, ask if he minds if i take a few photos and ask a few questions. I can have my camera out of the bag, Softbox on the flash and ready to shoot in about 20sec...all the while I'm asking the questions I use for my post. You can find a example here titled "Faces of Ecuador": http://www.foggodyssey.com/2009/08/18/faces-of-ecuador-001/

I too also used this at a wedding last weekend. I agree with the post though that it's to big to use on camera and if you have a wireless setup then it's more practical. I just walked around while people were eating, dancing and talking and shot away. When I needed something different I would walk back to my table and grab the extra off camera flash with the Softbox and snap some more.

I think the possibilities are endless once you start using them. I've seen it used on a pole and hanging it over a crowd to light them evenly to what you just talked about. Anyone got any other ideas on how to get the most out of a Softbox III let me know...always looking for something new! :)

Not snarky at all, although I can see how my comment could be taken that way. Hard to tell intent with these comments. If I had intended to be snarky I wouldn't have changed the original post. I would have just layed the snarkiness out there like sod and let it take root. Snarky-root. "Snarky" is a really great word. :)

Maybe I shouldn't call it a review...

"If I thought that the set-up was inconvenient I would have mentioned it."

Feeling a little snarky today, are we? If you're gonna do reviews, you have to expect people to ask questions, and wanting to know how something sets up does seem to fall within the realm of "practical usage" rather than "incredible detail." The post has good info... just don't forget who the customers are...

I've added a sentence regarding set-up time to the post. I'm not really the sort of reviewer who breaks down in incredible detail all the features of a purchase. I'm more about practical usage and application. If I thought that the set-up was inconvenient I would have mentioned it.

Could we have a little more detail on HOW it folds, and how it attaches to the flash? I have an older softbox made for small flashes, and it works quite well... but in terms of construction it's more of an Erector set of separate parts that take about 5 minutes to assemble. I'd be interested in a unit that sets up more quickly, as long as it's still reasonably sturdy.
