Hi there i am looking to purchase a good lense for taking nature pictures sometimes at long distance,what would be the best one to get and where obviously best value for money as everyone wants.

Well, yes IF it is the latest version of the lens, the
AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro

and if it is a Nikon mount lens.

I’m not sure if earlier versions did or did not have the so called BIM: indicating a built-in lens motor for compatiblity with all Nikon cameras

You may need to take the lens to a camera store and try it on a D5000.

I am considering buying the D5000 – the price is really competitive and I have quite a tight budget. Your review ticks all the boxes for me.

You mention, ‘You can also play back a clip on the camera’s LCD monitor or connect the D5000 to an HD TV (with an optional HDMI cable) to show off your clear, crisp, colourful movies.’

Will the Lilliput 869GL-80NP/C HDMI monitor work as a field monitor? They are for sale at http://www.carcomputer.co.uk. This would make an ideal set up for me.

Joel: Yes and a bargain for the price. Nikon has been doing great the past few years in very! competitive pricing.

The AF-S 70-300mm G lens for example, would be good value at $1000. But it’s a LOT more affordable than that. I love that lens.
