The Nikkor AF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 exhibited a very good performance in the lab EXCEPT at the long end of the zoom range. At 75mm and 200mm the resolution figures are very good but beyond there’s a rapid decline in quality. At 300mm f/5.6 the results are downright soft and it takes f/11 to recover the quality to very decent levels across the frame. Distortions are a non-issue with this lens and both vignetting and CAs are well controlled. The build quality is very good and puts most of today’s consumer grade tele zooms to shame – at the price of weight which is probably too high for the general taste of the target group. Regarding the results at 300mm you may consider other options if you require good quality with a 10mp camera at this setting. … READ FULL REVIEW

By all means find one of these over the new 70-300. Personally I use the smaller and faster focusing70-210 or much more expensive 80-400 because I actually own them. This 75-300 was loaned to me by a fan for testing. This is an unusually well made, well performing lens available today for a bargain price. “¦ READ FULL REVIEW

  1. Can I use ths lens with AF function on my D6o?

  2. Will this lens be compatible with other Nikon cameras that are not film?

  3. Yes, this les is compatible with any Digital SLR Nikon, but if you haven’t a motor in body then AF will not work. This lens is full frame and I think D60 is DX. It isn’t problem I have D3000 with this lens. Photos is beautiful but manual focusing make me sad.

  4. It is a very good lens; I use it in MF mode only for astrophotography. Nearly plastics-free!

  5. Hi, i would like to offer my daughter the “AF 75-300” as a gift but i don’t know if it will fit her D90. Please help, thanks…

  6. I had this lens in 2016 and gave it to a friend who wanted to do wildlife. I like the lens, it’s super sharp mounted on my Nikon D7100 and Nikon D300. Yesterday I bought another one (brand new but old stock) and plans to use it to take photos of our grandchildren (portraits). I am excited to use the lens which should be in my possession by tomorrow afternoon hehehehehe. . . Lorenzo Villacorte, Tacloban City, Philippines
